HALIFAX – Halifax police say two men are facing a number of charges including attempted murder after a violent home invasion.
Police allege the men, aged 20 and 22, broke into a firearm storage cabinet in a home in Dartmouth early Sunday morning.
They say when the 75-year-old resident confronted them, he was hit over the head several times with one of his own rifles, causing severe facial injuries.
The victim remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers say an anonymous caller contacted police Monday morning and gave them information about the whereabouts of one of the stolen firearms.
The suspects were later arrested at separate apartments in the Halifax area.
