EDMONTON — Another piece of the arena district is coming together after council approved the closure of one block of a downtown Edmonton street.

The closure will effect 103 Street in front of the current Greyhound station from 103 Avenue to 104 Avenue. The land will be sold at market value to the Edmonton Arena District (EAD) joint venture, which is developing the arena district.

EAD is seeking the block due in part to build an underground parkade, as well as to extend space on the plaza slated for the site.

It adds that it would like to make 103 Street like Edmonton’s Rice Howard Way.
