When crews arrived, the man was on the second-highest platform of the tower.

According to RCMP an “inopportune” lighting storm was brewing at the same time, which delayed attempts to rescue the climber.

City Fire, EMS, RCMP and a Telus technician all attended the scene.

Telus had to shut down the tower which may have impacted Telus service.

It took two hours until the man finally descended the tower voluntarily, around 8:30 pm.
