Major fire in Old Montreal

MONTREAL – A 7-storey residential condo building on St. Paul and St. Laurent in the Old Port was the scene of a fire late Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters rushed to the raging blaze which apparently started on the roof of the building.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, although there are reports it may have started with a barbecue.

Four police officers, who rushed into the building at the start of the blaze, suffered smoke inhalation.
