Manitoba Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard releases full election platform

WINNIPEG – Manitoba Liberals have released their full election platform and touted it as less expensive than the plans from the other parties.  

 

Leader Jon Gerrard says his promises in the Oct. 4 election campaign would cost $200 million in the first year.

He says that would allow a Liberal government to balance the budget by 2015 – as the NDP also plans. 

 

The platform contains many items already revealed by Gerrard: funding rapid transit, more money to treat diabetes and keeping tuition increases in line with inflation. 

 

Gerrard also says he would give elementary and high school students credits toward their university tuition.

Other promises include reducing the price of milk in remote communities, raising the basic exemption for income taxes and committing to emissions targets under the Kyoto accord.
