WINNIPEG – Blue Bombers offensive lineman Steve Morley will have a little less spending money this week.

The CFL has fined Morley an undisclosed amount for punching an opponent. The incident happened on the Roughriders sideline late in the Banjo Bowl and sparked a shoving match between the two teams. Morley was ejected from the game.

The CFL also fined the Eskimos’ Patrick Watkins for inappropriate comments and the Riders’ Paul Waldu for physical contact with an official.

On the field, the injury news continues to get worse for the Blue Bombers, with defensive tackle Zach Anderson now lost for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

“You feel terrible for the guy,” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “It’s always more about the person than it is anything to do with a roster. Zach is an important guy to have around and obviously football is a big part of his life and to have it taken away for a little bit of time is tough on him.”

Anderson had been rotating with Jake Thomas at the defensive tackle position and the injury will increase Thomas’ workload. With Jason Vega nicked up there’ll also be a change at defensive end with either Louie Richardson or Marvin Booker to fill the vacancy.

The Bombers take on the B.C. Lions on Saturday night.
