Police raid Halifax medical marijuana shop in drug trafficking probe

HALIFAX – Halifax police arrested two people and seized marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia from a business on Gottingen Street Friday afternoon.

A 19-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were taken into custody at Farm Assists, which sells medical marijuana and related merchandise.

The raid was part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation that stemmed from numerous public complaints, according to police.

During a simultaneous search, police arrested a 39-year-old man and 47-year-old woman, and seized marijuana and cash at a residence on East Chezzetcook Road in Head of Chezzetcook.

Officers also seized hundreds of marijuana plants from a separate grow operation on Colford Drive in Head of Chezzetcook.

Police say all the suspects are being interviewed and could face charges.
