CALGARY – The Insurance Bureau of Canada says hail storms in the Calgary area last month totalled about $450 million in insured damage.
The city of Airdrie might have seen the biggest damage on Aug. 7 and Aug. 8, due to heavy rain and hail as big as golf balls.

Damage was also seen in an area stretching from Calgary up to Red Deer and Rocky Mountain House.

Officials say Alberta has been hardest hit by the increasing frequency and severity of storms across the country, with about $4 billion in damages being noted in the province since 2011.
