TORONTO – Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city of Toronto.
The weather agency issued the heat warning shortly after 3 p.m. Monday in anticipation of the temperature rising and the humidex reaching approximately 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
A cold front is expected to sweep through the GTA Tuesday, however, which will bring temperatures back down.
The weather agency warns seniors, infants, and people with chronic illnesses are at the greatest risk for illnesses associated with heat including heat stroke.
The heat warning was issued for Toronto as well as:
- Hamilton
- Halton-Peel
- London-Middlesex-Oxford-Brant
- Sarnia-Lambton
- Waterloo-Wellington
- Windsor-Essex-Chatham-Kent
- York-Durham
