PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A man who admitted to his role in a northern Saskatchewan fire last year that killed a 10-year-old girl has been sentenced to 18 months in jail.
Darryl Sewap of Pelican Narrows was initially charged with arson and criminal negligence causing death in the Sept. 24 blaze that claimed the life of Denasia Highway.
She was staying at her grandparents’ house when she died.
The arson charge was dropped earlier this year after Sewap pleaded guilty to the second charge.
Sewap will serve three months behind bars after being given 15 months credit for time already served.
