CALGARY- Ever tried to maneuver a school bus? It turns out it’s even harder than it looks.
Southland Transportation is looking to hire new drivers ahead of the school year, but it turns out only about half of those who sign up for their training course actually pass.

The company uses a simulator to ensure their drivers are ready for the road.
“Ours is the first training program to be certified by the Motor Carrier Passenger Council of Canada, so we’re very proud of that,” says Chris Castellarin, GM of Southland Transportation. “We turn them into professional drivers, not just a bus driver per se.”
About 30 spots are still available ahead of the school year.
