An outbreak at the Welland hospital was declared over in early August, and the health system says it’s committed to ending an outbreak at St. Catharines General Hospital as soon as possible.
There have been 24 deaths related to C. difficile at the St. Catharines hospital. There were five in Welland.
The deaths related to C. difficile and other problems prompted the provincial government to appoint a supervisor for Niagara-area hospitals last week. (CKTB, The Canadian Press)
