A middle-aged Surrey man disappeared Friday afternoon, and now Surrey RCMP and worried family members are appealing to the public to help find him.

Surjit Phagura, 50, left his home in the 9900-block of 159 Street on Friday at 2 p.m., on foot.

The Indo-Canadian man, who is 5-foot-6 and weighs 175 pounds, enjoys going on nightly walks and told family he was going to Wal-Mart, says his niece Neeta Gill, 27.

“He has gone out for long periods [of time], but never for 24 hours,” Gill said Sunday.

“We’re really concerned because he does have depression and he is diabetic,” she said.

Surrey Search and Rescue have set up a command post at North Surrey Secondary and are combing through Tynehead Park and Green Timbers Park — Phagura’s most common walking destinations.

Phagura has brown/grey hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing the jacket in the photo above.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
