VANCOUVER – A Port Alberni teen has been handed an adult prison sentence for a random and vicious sex assault last year.
Seventeen-year old Thomas Titian pleaded guilty earlier this week to two counts, aggravated sexual assault and choking, suffocating or strangling to enable himself to commit sexual assault.
An attempted murder charge was stayed and Titian received six years in prison.

With two years credit for time already served he will serve four more years in prison.
Titian will continue to serve his time in a youth detention centre until he turns 18, when he may be moved to a federal prison.
The teen admitted to sexually assaulting a 16-year old foreign exchange student in May 2013 in a random attack at Port Alberni’s Rogers Creek Park.
The victim was brutally attacked for an hour and severely injured.
She remained hospitalized for two weeks.
Titian was arrested the next day after tips from the community poured in.
