CALGARY- Charges have been laid following separate incidents that left a cat dead, and a woman and her dog seriously injured.
The first one happened on the morning of July 29, when a woman was jogging along Springbank Crescent S.W. with her dog. Both she and the Schnauzer were attacked by a Great Dane, and suffered serious injuries.

The victim told officers that the man who had been walking the Great Dane left the scene. Both he and his wife have been charged with Animal Running at Large, Animal Cause Damage to Another Animal, and Animal Bite a Person.
Then around 11 p.m. on August 12, witnesses saw two dogs attacking a cat in an alley in the community of Rosedale, killing it.
“The dogs, a Husky and a Bouvier, had been running at large at the time of the incident,” explains Abdul Rafih from Animal and Bylaw Services. “We later determined the owner of the dogs was out of town, and had left the pets in the care of someone else.”
A man has since been charged with having a Dog at Large, and Animal Causing Death to Another Animal.
