KIRKLAND — Rain or shine, Global Montreal will be broadcasting live from Kirkland on Friday, for the last show in this summer’s West End Dispatches series.
Senior anchor Jamie Orchard is hosting the show from Parc des Bénévoles, where the Lakeshore Soccer Club is holding Soccerfest, its annual weekend event and the largest recreational tournament in the province.
One of the largest private sporting organizations in Quebec, the Lakeshore Soccer Club teaches soccer to kids at a variety of levels: recreational, competitive and elite. It has a hybrid academic training program for athletes looking for more intensive training, and it also serves students with different needs.
The Club’s specialized program Super Sonics is designed for kids aged 4 to 16 and have intellectual deficiencies. Soccerfest president Kelly-Anne Soutter will be on hand for Friday’s show to talk about the tournament and the Club’s history.
“This year we are hosting approximately 120 recreational teams, one of the highest number of teams registered on record,” said Soutter.
“They come primarily from the Lac St. Louis region, but also from as far away as Quebec City and Northern Toronto to compete.”
