VANCOUVER — Residents of Cranbrook, Fernie, Elkford, Sparwood, Fort Steele and Kimberley may notice smoke in this air this week.

Starting August 11, proactive burning will begin to contain a wildfire eight kilometres north of Fisher Peak.

The blaze is located in very steep and dangerous terrain and the burn-off is an attempt to limit its potential growth and the direction of the fire.

No communities or structures are threatened at this time. With hot and dry conditions expected this week, the Southeast Fire Centre is urging the public to be extra cautious in the back country.
