TORONTO – The one-year countdown to the Parapan Am Games in Toronto has begun.

The games will bring over 1,600 para-athletes from across the Americas and the Caribbean to Toronto to compete in 15 different sporting events.

All 15 of the games also act as qualifiers for the 2016 Paralypmic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

A video, titled “Are You Ready?” was released Thursday morning to show off the intense training para-athletes put themselves through to compete in the games.

Organizers say the three para-athletes represent ” all athletes vying for a spot” at the Parapan Am Games next year.

The international sporting event begins 365 days from now and will run for just over a week.

This also marks the first time the Parapan Am Games will be held in Canada.
