Record attendance at Winnipeg Zoo

Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park Zoo is celebrating it’s one month anniversary since re-opening the over 10 acre park.

102,000 visitors have traveled through the gates at the zoo.

The star attraction, the Journey to Churchill exhibit, where people can stand in a tunnel that runs under a 5 metre deep pool, where you can see  Hudson the Polar Bear, and his friends.

Assiniboine Park Conservancy’s president explains that figure amounts for a 25 percent increase from the same time last year .  Also up 150%  since 2012’s numbers.

The journey to Churchill started as a much smaller exhibit, with a budget of 35 million dollars.

Costs quickly tripled, with the province and city putting in 55 million. The final price tag for the Assinboine Park Zoo was $94. 4 million.
