A large construction crane has been sitting at the empty site for years and people in the area say it’s an eye sore and a safety concern.

Teens break into the site through easy access openings in the surrounding fencing and then use it as a makeshift skateboard park.

Residents have complained to the city but nothing has been done and they worry it’s only a matter of time until there’s an accident or death.

A large yellow crane has been sitting at site since October 2008 and people have started using the crane as a jungle gym.

The City of Kelowna said there isn’t much they can do but are exploring removal options.

Worksafe BC told CHBC the site is in receivership and because the crane is not operational, they have no jurisdiction.
