Abandoned Vaughan home destroyed by fire

VAUGHAN, Ont. – An abandoned home was destroyed after a two-alarm fire broke out early Friday morning in Vaughan, and the deputy fire chief says it has already been deemed suspicious.

The Vaughan Fire Services responded to a call shortly after 5 a.m. and arrived at a home at Teston Rd. and Jane St. to find flames going through the roof of the detached home, where no one was living at the time.

“The roof collapsed onto the second floor,” said Deputy Fire Chief Gary Fraser with Vaughan Fire. “The house was destroyed.”

Firefighters had the flames under control within an hour of arriving and continued to battle spot fires after that.

No injuries were reported and the house was far enough from adjacent properties that no damage to them has been observed.
