B.C. coroner asks for help to ID remains of man

BURNABY, B.C. – The BC Coroners Service is asking for the public’s help in identifying a person whose skeletal remains were found in a forested area along a power line near Coquitlam.

The service says the person is very likely male, may have been between 45 and 65 years old when he died, and has likely been missing for years.

At some point in his life, the man suffered a severe injury to his face and head, had many fractured bones and likely had some degree of distortion or scarring.

The service says the person also underwent surgery to his skull, possibility in the 1980s or ’90s.

A hiker found the skull in December 2012, and efforts to use DNA for identifying the remains have not been successful.

The coroners’ service and Coquitlam RCMP hope that releasing information about the man may help solve the mystery.
