Alberta man facing weapons, drug charges after being busted by Saskatoon police

An 18-year-old Edmonton, Alberta man is facing a number of weapons and drug charges after he was busted by Saskatoon police on Thursday. 

Officers first noticed a man acting suspiciously outside a resident in the area of Avenue Q South around midnight.

The suspect then got into a taxi and patrol officers moved in, pulling the cab over and arresting him. 

A search of his backpack found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, approximately 70 grams of crack cocaine and marijuana. 

He has been charged with six offenses including possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of controlled substances. 

He was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
