CALGARY – Police have charged two men after seizing 12 firearms at the Coutts border crossing.
The first incident happened on Monday, July 14th.
Officers arrested a 49-year-old man from Utah after discovering seven firearms in his trailer, including a restricted semi-automatic rifle and a fully loaded restricted handgun.
Donald Lloyd Hardinger was released on $6,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on September 9th, 2014.
Two days later, police arrested a 33-year-old Virgina man after seizing five firearms from his van, including two restricted handguns and one prohibited semi-automatic pistol.
Christopher Michael Grosstephan was released on $6,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on September 11th, 2014.
Each man is each facing four charges under the Customs Act and four charges under the Criminal Code.
