Move over analog transmission – the digital era has arrived!
It means that those who watch Global Montreal with rabbit ears or rooftop antenna – and therefore, likely analog – should listen up to tune in.
Due to a new mandate by the Canadian government, a transition is underway to shift over-the-air (OTA) TV broadcasts from analog to digital transmission.
Global Montreal will be moved from channel 46 to the new digital channel 15.

It means that those using analog may experience a loss of service in the coming weeks.
Below are a few options to choose from:
– First, confirm whether or not your TV has a digital tuner. Many newer TVs already have digital tuners built in and consumers can look for the term “digital tuner,” “ATSC tuner” or “integrated tuner” on their television, and consult their owner’s manual to ensure their settings are adjusted to receive digital signals
For those who do not have televisions equipped with a digital tuner, there are three options:
– Purchase a digital-to-analog converter box and ensure you have a suitable antenna
– Purchase a TV with a built-in digital tuner and ensure that you have a suitable antenna
– Subscribe to a cable or satellite television provider like Shaw Cable or Shaw Direct
Those who subscribe to cable or satellite, will not be impacted by the digital transition.
