Two drug-related arrests by Edmonton’s Drug and Gang Enforcement Unit (EDGE) have resulted in the seizure of several weapons, drugs and a significant amount of cash.

“Getting these drugs and weapons off the streets of Edmonton will help build safer communities,” said Insp. Greg Preston of the Edmonton Police Service.

In two separate incidents last weekend, police seized two handguns, numerous rounds of ammunition, body armour, more than a kilogram of cocaine and more than $60,000 in cash.

The first arrest took place during a vehicle stop in St. Albert on Saturday, Aug. 6, the second on Sunday, Aug. 7 when officers observed an alleged drug transaction in progress at 83 Street and 136 Avenue in Edmonton.

Three men in their 20s were charged with a variety of offences.

“These arrests are a prime example of how our officers are targeting organized crime,” Preston said.
