This day in history: August 10 Magellan spacecraft maps Venus

On this day in history, August 10, 1990, the Magellan spacecraft arrived at the planet Venus after traveling through space for 15 months. Shortly after it landed, controllers instructed the spacecraft to fire its solid-rocket motor to slow it down, so it could do a slow loop around the planet.
