TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford has made his first public appearance since his return from rehab.
The mayor visited the East York Canada Day Parade with his brother, Councillor Doug Ford.
The brothers spoke with attendants, posed for photos and did their best to brush off hecklers.
Ford spoke to selected members of the press yesterday, saying his stay at a rehabilitation facility “saved” his life.
During his nearly 20-minute address, Ford apologized for his past actions and behaviour, saying he was “embarrassed, ashamed and humiliated.”
He said the two months of “intensive therapy” changed his life forever.
Ford says he now weighs less than his brother Doug.
The East York Parade is the first of multiple stops Ford will be making around the city for Canada Day.
