A Penticton man wanted for the the brutal attack of a 22 year old woman over the weekend made his first court appearance on attempted murder charges.
David Wesley Bobbitt was arrested Wednesday night in Osoyoos, thanks to a tip from the public.
Bobbitt is the main suspect in a violent sexual assault at his second hand store in Penticton on Saturday.
As Bobbitt appeared in Penticton provincial court on Thursday afternoon, emotions among family and friends of the victim spilled over.
Throughout the proceedings Bobbitt would turn and stare down the family and friends of the victim, he could be heard mumbling under his breath.

At one point one of the family members said something to him, to which Bobbitt replied “you wanna threaten me you little…(expletive deleted).
Bobbitt then held his hands up and said “come on” at which point he was grabbed by the sheriff’s and taken out of the court room.
Afterwards, the father of the young child who witnessed the attack was overcome by emotion, banging on a fence as Bobbitt was taken away by sheriff’s.
The victim and her family were the first people the police told about Bobbitt’s arrest.
Her father says the family is pleaseed to see the suspect behind bars.
The victim was released from hospital yesterday and is now recovering at home.
That’s where her close friend Sharon O’Connor went to visit her last night, after news of the arrest.
“She is so amazing, so unbelievably positive and walking around and so happy and excited and can’t get a smile off her face and she’s excited for everyone else too” said O’conner.
Bobbitt will remain in custody while he undergoes a 30-day psychiatric assessment.
