TORONTO — Canada’s Sarah Polley is set to adapt Looking for Alaska, the first novel from Fault in Our Stars author John Green.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Polley is writing the screenplay for a big screen version of the book.
Paramount, the studio behind the project, is anxious to capitalize on the success of Fault in Our Stars, which stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The film has made $167 million worldwide in its first three weeks.

Looking for Alaska is the story of a boy who competes with his fellow boarding school students for the attention of a rebellious girl named Alaska.
Polley, 35, earned a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination for 2006’s Away from Her. She also directed the made-in-Toronto drama Take This Waltz and the feature documentary Stories We Tell.
Gossip Girl co-creator Josh Schwartz previously penned a Looking for Alaska script but the project never took off.
