Firefighters had to clear away shattered trees and other debris before rescue personnel could gain access to the area where several vehicles, campers and buildings were damaged or destroyed.

Resort owner Victor Dorval says his brother was hit on the head and had to be taken out by boat to an ambulance, which took him to hospital in Shellbrook.

Extreme weather early Monday was also responsible for the death of a 19-year-old man who was fatally injured when a tree fell on his tent near Little Philion Lake, about 330 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
