Edmonton gas explosion knocks firefighters to ground, 2 in hospital with burns

EDMONTON – Two Edmonton firefighters have been taken to hospital with small burns on their faces after a gas explosion.

A fire crew was called to a south-side home after a woman smelled gas.

Four firefighters were shutting off a gas meter on the side of the house when an explosion blew open a side door.

All four were knocked to the ground.

Two were taken to hospital as a precaution.
