INNISFAIL  – A police manhunt for a suspect considered armed and dangerous ended peacefully.

The search for Bristow involved officers from several surrounding RCMP detachments, the RCMP helicopter, K9 services and the Calgary emergency response team.

They responded after a hit and run incident in Penhold around 6 p.m.

The car was found abandoned at Highway 587 and Range Road 11 near Bowden.

Police determined Bristow was behind the wheel of that car and set up a search perimeter in the area. He was arrested several hours later without incident.

“I haven’t been advised if he had any firearms on him. I know he was taken into custody by the emergency response team and no injuries were sustained,” said Cpl. Sarah Knelsen of Red Deer RCMP.
