CALGARY – Officers have charged a Missouri man after seizing a loaded handgun in a vehicle at the Alberta-Montana border.

The Canada Border Services Agency says a loaded semi-automatic handgun was found inside a vehicle attempting to cross into Alberta at the Chief Mountain border crossing located near Waterton on June 6th.

Officers also seized an over-capacity magazine.

Terry Dale Whisenand of Parkville, Missouri is facing three charges, and is scheduled to appear in Lethbridge Provincial Court on June 24th.

Officials say this is the first firearm seizure this year at the port of Chief Mountain, which opened on May 15th.
