MONCTON, N.B. – There appear to be fewer mosquitoes plaguing folks around Moncton, N.B., this year.
Louis Lapierre of the Greater Moncton Pest Control Authority says traps have revealed fewer adult insects.

But Lapierre says if it wasn’t for their ongoing spray program, it could be worse.
He warns that heavy rains in recent weeks have left the marshes teeming with larvae.
Small collection nets dipped into some pools of stagnant water are yielding as many as 250 larvae.
Lapierre says drier weather would certainly help their control efforts.
