CBE names new chief superintendent

The Calgary Board of Education announced that David Stevenson had been appointed the chief superintendent of schools on Wednesday, June 04, 2014. CBE

CALGARY – The Calgary Board of Education has announced who will take over the position of chief superintendent of schools.

David Stevenson will replace the CBE’s former chief superintendent, Naomi Johnson, who stepped down from her post in April.

Stevenson has worked as a classroom teacher, assistant principal and principal. In 2009, he was named deputy chief superintendent, a position he held for four years.

Board of Trustees chair Sheila Taylor says they held an extensive search to find the right candidate for the job.

“We conducted a Canada-wide search for this position and were pleased to discover that our most outstanding candidate was from within the CBE,” said Taylor in a news release.

Stevenson says he looks forward to meeting with stakeholders over the next few months.
