Woman killed in Fort McMurray fire

EDMONTON – An early morning house fire on Tuesday claimed the life of a woman in Fort McMurray.

Wood Buffalo RCMP and Regional Emergency Services responded to the blaze around 2 a.m.

They arrived to find a house in downtown Fort McMurray on fire with smoke pouring out of it.

A man managed to escape the flames, however a woman wasn’t able to get out, and was found dead inside by emergency crews.

Her identity is not being released out of respect for the family.

It’s not known if the man was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is also not yet known. RCMP and Regional Emergency Services continue to investigate.
