Hikers beware: Bear warning issued in Banff

CALGARY – Officials are advising people to use caution if visiting Banff National Park, thanks to a grizzly bear that has been seen frequenting the area.

Parks Canada issued a bear warning on Friday, which includes Banff recreation grounds, Cave and Basin and the Sundance trail to the junction of Healy Creek trail.

Officials are asking hikers in the area to make lots of noise and keep their pets on a leash.

They advise people to carry bear spray, and report all bear sightings to the Visitor Center or Banff Park Dispatch at 403-762-1470.
