Habs sign defence prospect Dalton Thrower to 3-year deal

MONTREAL – Defence prospect Dalton Thrower has signed a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

The six-foot 203-pound Thrower had 12 goals and 39 points in 42 games with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League this season.

He led Vancouver defencemen with eight power-play goals.

Thrower, 20, had 147 points in 285 career WHL games.

The Squamish, B.C. native was picked 51st overall by Montreal in the 2012 draft.
