The sun put on a stunning dance for the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a space telescope that monitors our nearest star.

NASA released the video this week as SDO’s “Pick of the Week.”

WATCH: The sun’s magnetic dance

The telescope zoomed in to what was close to its maximum ability to get a closer look at tight, bright loops and much longer loops above an active region of the sun. The dark spot that hovers above the loops is plasma that was pulled to and fro by the magnetism.
