Geography

Divided, as the name suggests, between Pickering and the eastern end of Scarborough, this riding is bordered by Highland Creek and Morningside Avenue to the west, Sheppard and Finch Avenue to the north, and Brock and Valley Farm Road to the east.

History

Minister of Consumer Services Tracy MacCharles won this riding in 2011 for the Liberals by over 5000 votes, replacing former Liberal MPP Wayne Arthurs, who had held the district since 2003. This area has gone to the party forming government since 1985, when it was represented by both Scarborough East and Durham West.

By the numbers

A stable suburban riding, 69.7% of people lived at the same address between 2006 and 2011, the highest number in the GTA by far. The average household size is 3.1, 13th highest in the province.
