“The patient suffered multiple traumatic injuries as a result of high impact and perception of a high rate of speed,” explained Stuart Brideaux from EMS. “There were quite a number of witnesses were also phoning 911, providing information.”

Southbound Macleod Trail was shut down near Stampede Park, so police could investigate, and debris from the crash could be seen scattered across the roadway.

Traffic was detoured onto Blackfoot Trail via 25 Ave., causing major delays along southbound Macleod Trail.

The Traffic Management Centre altered signal timings to accommodate traffic flow. The roadway was fully reopened around 4 p.m.
