Mike Colle has held the riding since it was created before the 1999 election but was first elected in 1995 in the defunct riding of Oakwood. His closest challenger came in 2007, when he defeated the PC candidate by only 2,000 votes, but has otherwise won with comfortable margins.

The second most common language is Tagalog, with 5.14 per cent of people listing it as their mother tongue in the 2011 census.
