Man rescued from Red River in Winnipeg – then arrested

WINNIPEG – A man was taken to hospital following a water rescue in St. Boniface early Monday – and then was arrested.

Police were called at about 3:20 a.m. Monday about people who looked drunk in the Red River near the Provencher Bridge.

Someone pulled one of the men from the river and he was taken to hospital in stable condition, where police later arrested him on an outstanding warrant.

The other people in the river got out safely by themselves, police said.
