TORONTO — A crack by Justin Bieber inside a Toronto nightclub didn’t get laughs from Mayor Rob Ford.
Toronto Star editor Michael Cooke tweeted Wednesday night that Ford was “enraged” when the 20-year-old pop star asked the mayor if he had any crack when the two met at Muzik nightclub.
“A wild ugly time” ensued, according to Cooke.
According to the Star, Ford ran into Bieber in a common area of the club on March 15. He tried to shake Bieber’s hand “and became enraged when Bieber jokingly asked him, ‘Did you bring any crack to smoke?'”
Bieber is also facing an assault charge in Toronto after his driver was allegedly struck in the head while taking the singer and his friends from a nightclub following a Leafs game last December.

Appearing on the Washington, D.C. radio show Sports Junkies in January, Ford said he had not met Bieber and was not a fan of his genre of music. But, he seemed to defend the pop star.
“He’s a young guy,” Ford said. “I wish I was as successful as he was.”
Ford announced Wednesday he is taking a leave of absence to seek treatment for alcohol abuse.
