CALGARY – A 72-year-old man has died after being hit by a van while crossing the road several months ago.
Virendra Prasad was struck by the van as it turned eastbound onto 17 Avenue S.E. from 44 Street S.E. on Wednesday, January 15.
He was crossing 17th Avenue S.E. in a marked crosswalk when he was hit.
Prasad was rushed to the Foothills Hospital in stable condition, but his condition deteriorated.
He passed away on Tuesday, April 29th.
The driver of the van was not injured, and has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and careless driving.
