Calgary man’s disappearance now investigated as murder

CALGARY – Police believe a man reported missing earlier this year may have been murdered, and are asking anyone with information on his disappearance to come forward.

Suryan Giama was last seen by his family on Monday, Feb. 17th at a home in the 0-100 block of Woodview Terrace S.W.

On Monday, police revealed that Giama’s Toyota Camry had been recovered in southwest Calgary on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

Officers investigating his disappearance now think Giama met with foul play, and have handed over the investigation to the Homicide Unit.

Giama is of Somalian descent, and is described by police are being approximately 6’ tall, 150 lbs., with a slim build and a goatee. He was wearing a black jacket when he was last seen, and may be driving a dark grey, 2007 four-door Toyota Camry with Alberta license plate BKL 1285.

Anyone with information about Giama is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
