Body recovered from Okanagan River

OKANAGAN FALLS, B.C. – A search for a possible drowning victim in the Okanagan River Friday morning turned into a body recovery.

The body of an unidentified person was pulled from the river off the canal portion of the river several kilometres south of Okanagan Falls, downriver from the McIntyre Dam.

Swift water rescue technicians from Penticton and Oliver were involved in the recovery according to a news release from Penticton Search and Rescue.

There’s no word yet on the victim’s identity or what the circumstances were that took the person’s life.

Both the Penticton RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating.
