Police say the victim was leaving the liquor store when he was confronted by a man who hit him in the head with a hammer and stole his case of beer.

Officers eventually found the suspect while responding to a separate, domestic-related call.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.

The victim was transported to the Sheldon Chumir Hospital with minor injuries.
