CALGARY – Police are investigating after a man was assaulted with a hammer outside a northwest liquor store on Wednesday.
It happened in the area of 10th Street and 16th Avenue N.W. around 9 p.m.

Police say the victim was leaving the liquor store when he was confronted by a man who hit him in the head with a hammer and stole his case of beer.
Officers eventually found the suspect while responding to a separate, domestic-related call.
He was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon.
The victim was transported to the Sheldon Chumir Hospital with minor injuries.
