Jennifer Abel of Laval, Que., was second at 333.95. Montreal’s Melanie Rinaldi was third at 306.80.

The turning point for Heymans was in the third of five rounds in the final. She watched Abel miss her reverse dive then nailed hers for 9.0s and 9.5s.

“Jennifer dove right before me so I knew she had missed that dive,” said Heymans, a three-time Olympic medallist. “The reverse is my best dive but it is a very stressful dive and I was pleased with how I stayed composed and executed it really well under that pressure situation.”
